Are you veteran with more questions about Pittsburgh Hires Veterans? You are not alone. Read through our Veterans FAQs for more information.
GETTING STARTED
1.) How do I go about getting started with PHV? Contact us via email, phone or office visit and complete the intake form. Once we receive your form, someone from our team, will contact you to set up your one on one consultation.
2.) Are there any fees for the services available to veterans? NO – The services are 100% FREE to our veterans.
3.) What documentation do you need to get started with PHV? You will need your DD214 if you are a veteran or your current military ID if you are still active or in the reserves and transitioning to civilian life.
4.) Do I have to have a resume before coming to PHV? NO – We are happy to work with you to make a new resume or update your current resume.
GENERAL
5.) Do you help find part-time employment? YES – We can help you find part time employment as well as full-time or temporary employment, based on your needs and interests.
6.) Do you only service the Pittsburgh Area? NO – PHV serves 9 counties in South Western Pennsylvania and those looking to move to the Pittsburgh Region from around the country. We often extend our service area for other veteran who reach out to us.
7.) Will you help a veteran if they have a criminal record or barriers to employment? YES – We will help even if there are barriers to employment.
8.) Is there a minimum length of service that a veteran needs to have to receive support from PHV? NO – There is no minimum, but we do ask for discharge status and any information regarding the situation that may effect veteran benefits. Discharge status and length of service may effect additional services/benefits if we work with another organization on your behalf.
8.) Once I get placed in a school or training program, can I come back to PHV when its time to look for employment? ABSOLUTELY. We are here to assist our veterans on their current missions, even if they have come through our program before.
9.) Are you part of City of Pittsburgh? NO – While we work with the City of Pittsburgh to employ veterans, we are not a department of the City of Pittsburgh.
EMPLOYER FAQ’s
Are you an employer looking to hire veterans but have more questions before becoming an employer partner of PHV?
1.) Is there a fee to connect with Pittsburgh Hires Veterans as an employer? – No. Joining PHV as an employer partner is free for all employers. We only ask that you make a commitment to hiring veterans.
2.) Are there any placement fees for hiring a veteran from Pittsburgh Hires Veterans? No. There are no fees to hire a veteran from PHV or to be listed on our site as an employer partner.
3.) How do I become an employer partner with Pittsburgh Hires Veterans? Contact us via email, phone or stop in and visit. Complete the “New Employer” form and submit along with any open positions.
4.) What happens once I have completed and submitted the “New Employer” form? Someone from the PHV team will reach out to you, to discuss your business in more detail and the open positions you have to fill. From there they will see if we have any potential matches with our veterans.
5.) How long does it take to find a veteran match for my open positions? The time frame will vary for each position depending on the requirements and the veterans we are working with at that time. Also, we cannot guarantee that we will have a veteran with the skills or interests that are required for your open position at the time needed.
