Description

Purpose of the Job:

The principal reason for this job is to provide engineering support, technical advice and specialized assistance as necessary for the Service Parts Processing Department on various quotation and order requests involving renewal parts; replacement and revision, and modification parts, conversions and occasional assistance to rerates. Focus of this position will be to support Service Parts quotations and orders.

 

Specific Job Responsibilities

Assists Sales, ISR’s, and Project Management in determination of customer requirements as they pertain to Service Parts Orders.

Direct technical liaison in support of Service Parts quotation process. Timely response to ISR’s is critical to Quote Cycle Time key performance indicators.

Responsible for review and acceptance / rejection of technical aspects and requirements of customer inquiries and Purchase Orders.

Technical review of parts / components to determine suitability and manufacturability based on modern design guidelines and manufacturing technology. Make recommendation to “use as is” or “design update required”.  Perform necessary engineering analysis to ensure that changes will not alter integrity of original system. Where identified, solutions proposed, and revisions made as covered by contract.

Determine whether a given part/component requires a revision to existing part number or assignment of a new part number. Where a new part number is required, determine part number selection as outlined by Service Parts guidelines and work instructions. Convey part numbers back to ISR for inclusion in SVP quotations / orders.

Identify need for component specific Inspection and Test Plans. Communicate requirements to Quality, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Project Management for processing accordingly.

Review raw material requirements of newly booked capital orders. Where new drawings are not required, coordinate with SVP Production Planning and Project Management to release material demand as soon as possible. Where new drawings are required, submit Drafting Requests and expedite raw material releases.

Creation, validation, and updating of unit specific Normal Maintenance Parts Lists (NMPL) to support Outside Sales, Inside Sales, and Customer Outage Planning departments as required.

Reviews minor and major drawings to be sure they meet contract requirements.

Prepares and issues Engineering Specifications, Purchase Requisitions, Special Engineering Instructions. Drafting Requests, etc., for necessary equipment required to fulfill the contract requirements.

Supplies information and coordinates other engineering work with other engineering departments as required.

Determines new steam rates, horsepower, and other related engineering data that should be given to customer for Industrial Product rerates.

Supports Field Service Engineers, Shop Engineers, and Customers with technical information and clarification in relation to the supply of spare parts.

Maintains the integrity and is responsible for notifying when Elliott documentation including bills of materials, instruction manuals and service bulletins need to be updated.

Ensures the Elliott documentation is officially updated through changes in drawings, bills of materials, normal maintenance parts list and instruction manuals.

Key Requirements

Background and Experience:

The job requires a college graduate with a four (4) year degree in Engineering.

Specialized training and experience in Turbomachinery or related fields is helpful.

Knowledge of Elliott products, policies, engineering standards, markets, organization structures and procedures is a must.

Minimum applicable engineering experience of five (5) years with Elliott equipment is needed.

Familiarity with computer programs such as Lotus Notes, MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint,

Windchill (PLM), Oracle (ERP) is helpful.
