Description

Mobile Calibration Technician (On-Site/Field)

KTA-Tator, Inc.’s Instrument Sales & Service (ISS) team is seeking a Mobile Calibration Technician to provide professional on-site calibration and service support to customers across the Pittsburgh region using a company-provided service vehicle. This role combines technical expertise with customer-facing professionalism and includes both field-based and in-office responsibilities.

This new role includes both in-office and field-based work, supporting calibrations at our Pittsburgh headquarters (Findlay Township, near the PIT Airport), as well as independent daytime travel to customer sites for troubleshooting, calibration, documentation, and technical support. While the position is expected to involve primarily local day travel initially, there may be opportunities for expanded travel radius or occasional overnight travel in the future based on business needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate independently from a company-provided service vehicle to provide on-site calibration, troubleshooting, and certification of customer equipment.
  • Perform accurate calibrations, diagnostics, and minor repairs on a wide range of analog, digital, electronic, electro-mechanical, gas, and mechanical test and measurement equipment.
  • Complete all work and documentation with a focus on quality, accuracy, and efficiency, in accordance with applicable quality requirements and traceability expectations (including ISO/IEC 17025 principles and NIST traceability).
  • Build strong customer relationships while performing calibrations, addressing equipment concerns, providing technical guidance, and identifying additional service opportunities or support needs.
  • Coordinate frequently with internal operations and lab teams while maintaining efficiency in route planning, customer scheduling, and daily time management.
  • Maintain the service vehicle in clean, safe operating condition; ensure tools, standards, and inventory are organized, stocked, and accurate.
  • Support internal operations including shipping/receiving, equipment processing, documentation updates, inventory tracking, and packaging/chain-of-custody practices.
