Description

The Senior Manager, Prospect Development plays a critical role in supporting the strategic fundraising efforts of the Development team by overseeing prospect management systems, portfolio strategy, and data integrity. This position ensures the effective coordination of Moves Management, proactive prospect identification, and research operations, while supervising team workflows and contributing to the continuous improvement of prospect development practices.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
    • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of prospect research experience preferred.
    • Completed training through the American Prospect Research Association (APRA) and Membership is preferred.
    • Experience working in Raiser’s Edge is required.
    • Experience working in Tessitura is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Research prowess leveraging public records, proprietary systems, published materials, and other resources.
  • Strong grasp of technology and CRM databases with capacity to identify opportunities for improved data quality and analysis.
  • Demonstrated success with CRM reporting and analytics specific to fundraising industry.
  • Must have excellent written, verbal communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail required.
  • Maturity of judgment and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working in a fast‐paced, results‐oriented environment with shifting priorities.
  • Present a collegial, collaborative, and customer-service oriented demeanor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The Senior Manager, Prospect Development will be responsible for leadership and collaboration in three key areas of the Prospect Research & Management team: Portfolio & Moves Management, Prospect Strategy & Research, and Systems & Reporting.

Portfolio & Moves Management

  • Lead and coordinate portfolio reviews with frontline fundraisers, ensuring alignment with Moves Management protocols.
  • Collaborate with Senior Associate Director, Prospect Management, Directors of Development, and Gift Officers to balance portfolios and optimize prospect assignments.
  • Train new gift officers on relationship management policies and tracking systems.
  • Monitor and report on portfolio activity, ensuring timely updates and strategic engagement.
  • Assign Moves Management tasks in Asana.

Prospect Strategy & Research

  • Collaborate with Senior Associate Director, Prospect Management on strategic prospect identification for Discovery Portfolio initiatives using internal and external data, a strategic mindset, and comprehensive understanding of fundraising goals.
  • Analyze financial disclosures (e.g., IRS 990s) and other public data to assess philanthropic capacity.
  • Stay attuned to museum programs, exhibits, and initiatives to align donor strategies with institutional priorities.

Systems & Reporting

  • Maintain and enhance prospect tracking systems and CRM data integrity.
  • Collaborate on development of dashboards and reports to support fundraising strategy and performance analysis.
  • Ensure consistent and accurate record-keeping across platforms.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Coordinate with the Senior Associate Director, Prospect Management to align team goals and priorities.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and contribute to department-wide initiatives.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned to support the department’s objectives.

Professional Development

  • Engage in ongoing learning and professional development to stay current with best practices in prospect research and management.
