Description
The Associate Tech Support Specialist is responsible for fielding incoming IT Help Desk calls and tickets and handling technology purchase requests for Carnegie Museums.
Qualifications
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
The successful candidate will have the ability to:
- Work both as a part of a group and independently.
- Follow detailed instructions to install software and hardware for PCs and Laptops.
- Create and maintain computer hardware inventory in ServiceDesk software.
- Create and distribute monthly Service Desk performance reports.
- Process incoming technology purchase requests, invoicing and monthly P-card statement.
- Work closely with staff members in a courteous and professional manner.
- Be discreet and tactful when working with confidential or sensitive information.
- Actively participate in various task force teams to assure effective coordination and communication of Information Technology Department needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Strong reading, writing and proofreading skills are required.
Education and Experience:
- Prefer at least some post-secondary education and 1 year professional/technical experience in an IT environment.
- Strong Windows and Microsoft Office experience is a must.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is primarily sedentary in nature; no special demands are required.
Principal Accountabilities
The Information Technology Associate will be responsible for providing administrative, technical, and project-related support in the Information Technology Department. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Answering IT hotlines calls and providing first-level end-user support.
- Monitoring incoming ServiceDesk requests and assigning appropriate personnel and installing software on PCs and laptops, updating computer hardware and software inventories, testing computer hardware, processing incoming technology purchase requests and invoicing.
- The ideal candidate should be a team player who possesses excellent telephone and customer service skills, has a proven ability to handle multiple tasks and directives, and is persistent in meeting departmental objectives.
- This person should be a self-starter, require little to no supervision, and be highly confidential and handle other duties as assigned.
