HARDWARE STORE MANAGER -- JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Depending on the needs of the team when hired, duties may include but are not limited to:
• Store Management/Lead People: Lead a team including hiring, training, and conducting personnel reviews. Planning schedule for staff to align to store hours, customer patterns and budget; supervise cash handling and deposits for operation; manage all aspects of the day-to-day business including maintaining Federal Firearms License
• Retail Merchandising: Determining weekly orders to maintain in-stock status to support sales; Budget for and place orders and supervise the team in managing product displays, inventory, pricing and refreshing bays of merchandise.
• Customer Service: Ensure great customer experience, from employees greeting customers, identifying customer needs, providing appropriate solutions. Personally assist customers; develop strong customer relations as manager
• Community Outreach: Actively build relationships with other businesses; oversee social media/marketing
• Check-Out: Ensure an efficient process for customer transactions in the Point-of-Sale system, including sales, returns and exchanges in accordance with authorized procedures. Guiding phone and on-site customer inquiries.
• Product Knowledge: Maintain current knowledge of merchandise lines, product features and benefits and develop the same for the team: Ship, receive, deliver, assemble, and install products; Start and demonstrate power equipment.
• Facility Maintenance: Ensure a clean, shoppable, safe work environment for employees and customers as well as the facilities overall including small engine repair shop, storage spaces and parking areas. Meet inspections expectations.
Key Requirements
The ideal candidate would have the following:
• 3-5 years’ management experience, ideally including small business, retail, hardware, or a relevant division
• 3+ years’ experience using computers, electronic devices, point of sale systems, internet-based and Microsoft Office programs. Excel and database systems knowledge strongly preferred.
• First-hand knowledge in at least one hardware department: Electrical, plumbing, paint, lawn and garden, power equipment, sporting goods, small engine repair, fencing, or home heating.
• Pennsylvania State Police Background Check
• Valid driver’s license
• High school diploma
• College Degree Preferred or Relevant Experience, Coursework/Trade Certification(s) post-high school tied to the industry.
• Punctual and reliable
• Lift at least 40lbs repeatedly / 50lbs unassisted (additional weight assisted); Stand or walk for prolonged periods
