This position plays a critical part in advancing Carnegie Museums' mission by ensuring sustainable financial support through strategic donor engagement.

The primary purpose of this position is to support the development team’s efforts to broaden the individual donor base, increase donor retention, and build the pipeline to mid-level, major, and planned gifts through the development and implementation of multi-channel fundraising strategies to engage Donor ($350-$1,894) and Patron Circle ($1,895+) annual giving levels. Key Performance Indicators for donor retention and revenue generation.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required with a minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in cultivating donor relationships and achieving fundraising goals, particularly with annual giving and/or membership programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in data analysis, data modeling and reporting.
  • Exhibits the collaborative and adaptive nature necessary to foster strong relationships and exercises sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy with members, donors, visitors, volunteers, and museum staff.
  • Must possess excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and database/CRM systems (Tessitura preferred).
  • Evening and weekend work is required.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is primarily sedentary in nature; no special demands are required.  Evenings and weekends are required.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Develop and implement donor relations activities, communications, personalized outreach and strategic initiatives that builds the donor pipeline and leads to Donor and Patron Circle members retention and growth.
  • Manages Donor and Patron circle membership renewals, solicitations, etc. in close collaboration with colleagues on the Membership team and the Museum Development teams.
  • Responsible for the execution of a sophisticated, segmented direct mail solicitation at a minimum of twice annually in collaboration with Museum Development Directors.
  • Track program metrics by setting measurable benchmarks for donor retention and revenue growth.
  • Collaborates with Comprehensive Campaign team on public campaign fundraising strategies.
  • Coordinates with colleagues in Membership and Communications to develop and implement e-communications to promote giving programs.  
  • Coordinates with the events team to implement strategic events to retain and attract Donor and Patron Circle members.
  • Serve as the primary Donor and Patron Circle contact for Customer Service and Gift Processing teams: ensure teams have updated information necessary for membership inquiries and processing.
  • Assist with the creation and management of budgets.
  • Performs additional special projects and support as needed to meet the goals of the department.
