What You'll Do
As a Professional Staff Nurse in the OR, you will:
+ Deliver safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care using the nursing process and Relationship-Based Care model
+ Develop and implement individualized care plans with patients and families as active partners
+ Serve as a clinical leader and collaborative team member in the surgical setting
+ Communicate patient conditions clearly and effectively across the care team
+ Participate in quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives
+ Support patient and family education throughout the surgical experience and transition of care
+ Serve as a preceptor or mentor to students and new staff (as applicable)
+ Perform the scrub role (required for RNs hired on or after July 1, 2023)
+ Maintain professional accountability, cultural awareness, and a safe work environment
What We're Looking For
+ RN with 0-2 years of experience (BSN preferred)
+ Strong critical thinking and clinical judgment
+ Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, complex surgical environment
+ Excellent communication and teamwork skills
+ Physical stamina for standing, walking, lifting, and positioning patients

Licensure & Certifications
+ Current RN license (state-specific or multistate Nursing Licensure Compact)
+ BLS/CPR (AHA-compliant) within 30 days of hire
+ RN or Temporary Practice Permit (TPP)
+ Act 34 Clearance
+ National certification preferred
Graduate Nurses must obtain licensure within required timelines per UPMC policy.
