Overview & Responsibilities
Purpose of Job:
Provide technical and project execution mentorship and expertise to facilitate successful execution and direct technical oversite of New Apparatus contracts through proposal and execution stages to meet Elliott’s quality standards and contractual technical obligations including engineering, documentation, shipment dates and budgeted costs.
Summary of Job:
The purpose of the Core team is to concentrate technical and project engineering experience within the department and ensure that Project Engineering maintains a high standard of excellence across all Elliott shop orders.
The Packaging Core Engineer position requires an experienced engineer to support the Project Engineering team by taking actions to fully understand and analyze detailed project specifications, thoroughly evaluate suppliers of purchased auxiliaries, and offer a core set of knowledge and leadership/mentorship to all Project Engineering job functions globally.
Job Expectations:
Provide guidance and technical guidance and oversight within New Apparatus while providing direct to support in customer (potential) negotiations and achieve fair and satisfactory execution of booked contracts, within project budgets and to project schedules.
Perform evaluation of current order execution process and procedures within America’s region. Support/drive and coordinate strategic business initiatives required to drive cost and process improvements throughout the project engineering and document control teams. This includes global alignment of engineering processes and procedures aligned throughout India, China, North America, and Japan locations.
Perform evaluation of Project Engineering Department involvement across project life cycle from proposal to shipment stages and implement improved means to support Commercial Operations, Sales, Applications, and on individual quotations during the bidding stage directly supporting international negotiations with customers, end users and global major auxiliary suppliers.
Lead the departmental technical specification management process, including taking actions to standardize Elliott technical specifications for major auxiliary systems. Utilize in-depth engineering knowledge and experience to clarify design requirements of complex engineered auxiliary systems (lube oil systems, dry gas panels, induction/synchronous motor drives) with intent to provide Procurement a means to place purchase order (on these systems) with suppliers at onset of new order.
Take the lead in resolution of project matters of complex technical nature providing direct support to Project Coordination and Package and Control Engineering Managers and Teams to quickly resolve issues and keep order execution on track.
Develop departmental procedures and establish work guidelines harmonized with other Elliott locations within Americas (and globally) supporting ISO 9001 requirements.
Travel is expected to be less than 10%
Key Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, 10+ years of diverse engineering experience. Advanced degrees and knowledge of improvement processes such as LEAN or Six Sigma are a plus.
Demonstrated critical thinking and business process mapping skill and a history of identifying and implementing process (business and/or manufacturing) improvements across a global organization.
A strong background identifying and analyzing gaps within current global processes and procedures, development of unique solutions to those gaps and driving implementation.
Proficient with Microsoft Office products (including Microsoft Project) and Project Management tools such as Oracle and Windchill are preferred.
Direct experience as a Team Member of international multilingual Teams working on global objectives focused on process integration and improvement activities that have resulted in successful implementation of large-scale initiatives.
