PITT OHIO, a $900 million, high service, highly profitable, transportation solutions provider offering SUPPLY CHAIN, LTL and TRUCKLOAD services is seeking an Payroll Administrator to join our team at our Corporate Headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pa.  .

Responsibilities

• Audit, screen, and process hours worked ensuring proper calculations and coding.
• Prepare and issue pay checks and direct deposits on a weekly basis for various employees ensuring accuracy and compliance with company polices and legal regulations.
• Compile, enter, compute, reconcile, and post payroll data and wages to maintain accurate payroll records.
• Maintain and update payroll records, including employee information, deductions and benefits.
• Coordinate the payment of federal, state and local taxes in multiple states; file associated tax reports.
• Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management.
• Maintain accurate records of leave pay and non-taxable wages.
• Support the maintenance of paid time off records.
• Handle payroll related inquiries and resolve any discrepancies or issues.
• Process verifications of employment.
• Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.

 

Other Duties

• Assist with year end payroll processes, including W-2 preparation and distribution.
• Collaborate with HR to ensure seamless payroll operations.
• Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.

Qualifications

• Command of English language to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
• Proven experience as a Payroll Administrator or in a similar role.
• Undergraduate degree in finance or accounting and/or payroll certification is a plus.
• Willingness and ability to work more than eight (8) hours per day when necessary but not common.
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience processing payroll required.
• Intermediate experience with electronic payroll and timekeeping systems. Ultimate Software and Kronos experience a plus.
• Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must possess intermediate experience with Excel including pivot tables, V-lookups, and formulas.
• Strong knowledge of various Federal, state, and local payroll and other payroll-related taxes.
• Must be able to handle stress productively and work well under pressure.
• Must have strong work history of dependability and reliability.
• Must be able to multi-task, manage time effectively and maintain accuracy
• Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll and payroll-related information.
• Meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize workload and triage competing priorities.
• Comfortable with basic accounting concepts and practices as they relate to payroll

 

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

• Sedentary work – exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of forces frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are only required occasionally.
• Close visual acuity is required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing computer terminal, and extensive reading.
• Typical exposure to interior environmental conditions like air conditioning and dust; no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
• Manual dexterity is regularly required including fingering, grasping, and typing; manual dexterity includes repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
• Talking and hearing required to communicate with and listen to others to share or receive information. May be occasionally exposed to noise including telephone, office machinery, and conversations of others.
