Virtual Blood Drive

Even though the official blood drive is over (it ended July 4) the need for blood donations is still great.

Every day, patients – and their families – count on generous volunteer blood donors to make sure that lifesaving blood is available. If you couldn’t make it during the week of our blood drive, we still encourage you to make a difference and donate. You can still use group code D061 when making your appointment or mention Pittsburgh Hires Veterans when you check in for your appointment.

Vitalant has 10 convenient locations in the Greater Pittsburgh area.
Call 412-209-7000 or visit vitalant.org/pittsburghveterans to make your appointment.

In addition, Vitalant has begun testing all blood donations for antibodies to SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. A positive antibody test does not mean that someone is immune to COVID-19, it does mean that they may be eligible to donate convalescent plasma and help people who are still recovering from coronavirus infection.  Learn more here.

These are a few pictures from Pittsburgh Hires Veterans first Blood Drive which took place during the week of June 28th through July 4th.
Thank you to everyone who took the time and made the effort to donate!
